Shankar Reacts to ED’s Rs. 10 Cr Attachment

Legendary Tamil director Shankar is currently facing the most challenging phase of his career. With movies like Indian-2 and Game Changer, he has been heavily criticized. As if this wasn’t enough, Shankar is now embroiled in a copyright lawsuit filed by Arur Tamilnadan, who claims that Shankar copied the story of Enthiran (Robo in Telugu). In connection with this case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs. 10 crores belonging to Shankar. After the news broke, Shankar remained silent for two days but has now spoken to the media about the issue.

Shankar expressed his deep frustration over the ED’s actions, stating that it hurt him to see such measures being taken despite the court’s verdict. “I want to bring a few things to the audience’s attention regarding the ED’s actions. They have temporarily attached three of my immovable properties based on baseless allegations related to Enthiran. This action reflects an abuse of the legal process and misleads the facts. It is important to highlight that the High Court had already thoroughly examined and delivered a verdict on the copyright issue concerning Enthiran.”

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the petition filed by Arur Tamilnadan, asserting that he did not have the original rights to the film. Despite the court’s ruling, the ED proceeded to attach Shankar’s assets based on a report from the Film and Television Institute of India. Shankar emphasized, “The court had already ruled that no copyright violation occurred. It is painful to see such actions taken without considering the court’s verdict.” Shankar is now planning to approach the court regarding the ED’s actions.
