The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League is happening on an intriguing note. Although not too many interesting matches have taken place since the start of the tournament, there’s just about enough cricketing action happening every day.
Now, coming to the topic at hand, there is one crucial factor that has become increasingly problematic in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
The issue we are speaking about is the pitch invasion felony being committed by several fans these days. Almost every IPL match, we are seeing individuals invade the pitch, getting too close to the players and intruding on their physical space.
Just a few days ago, something similar happened with Virat Kohli, where a fan fell at his feet and went on to hug him. Again, last night, a similar incident occurred when a fan intruded on the pitch and fell at the feet of Riyan Parag.
While these actions may seem like simple gestures of love and admiration, there is a significant amount of risk involved. There is a chance that one of these invaders could be an antisocial individual and might inflict harm on a player.
If something extremely untoward were to happen, the entire league could be jeopardized, causing panic among players.
One of the fundamental reasons behind such incidents is that the regulations and penalties for pitch invasions are rather lenient. Once stricter and more stringent rules are introduced, we could see a decrease in such incidents.
