BRS Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath passed away this morning. He won the MLA seat from Jubilee Hills, one of the largest assembly constituencies in Hyderabad, in 2014, 2018, and 2023. However, he also has a film background which not many people knew.
Maganti Gopinath has produced four films. In 1995, Gopinath turned producer with the film ‘Paatha Basthi’ directed by Uppalapati Narayana Rao. ‘Paatha Basthi’, which starred Suresh and Srikanth in the lead roles, failed to impress at the box office.
Later, in 2000, Gopinath produced the film ‘Ravanna’ with Rajasekhar playing the lead. In this film directed by B. Gopal, Gopinath played a key role as well. When Taraka Ratnam debuted, nine movies were announced on a single day and one of them was supposed to be produced by Gopinath. It is Bhadradri Ramudu, which was released in 2004.
In 2009, he made the movie ‘Naa Styley Veru’ with Rajasekhar. Even this film failed at the box office. Gopinath who failed to achieve success in film industry however found a massive success with back to back wins in politics.
