After months of speculation and delays, Spirit, starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is finally expected to go on floors this September. The update was shared by Pranay Reddy Vanga, brother of the director and one of the producers of the film, during a recent interaction at the Celebrity Cricket Mela held in the USA.
Spirit, announced as Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s next after the blockbuster Animal, was originally expected to start filming in December 2024. However, the project faced multiple delays for various reasons. One of the major developments was the change in the film’s female lead. While Deepika Padukone was initially on board, reports suggest creative differences regarding working schedules led to her exit. Tripti Dimri was later announced as the new leading lady.
Sources close to the project reveal that Sandeep Reddy Vanga had set a condition that Prabhas should not commit to any other films during the making of Spirit. Given Prabhas’ packed schedule and ongoing commitments, this contributed to the delay.
Fans of Prabhas, however, are cautiously optimistic. This isn’t the first time the makers have shared potential start dates, only for the schedule to be pushed further. While the latest update has brought excitement, the general mood among fans remains: let the shoot begin first, and then the real celebration can follow.
Spirit marks Prabhas’ first collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his intense filmmaking style. With Animal still fresh in the audience’s memory, expectations are naturally sky-high. If all goes as planned, the film is expected to be one of the most talked-about projects from Tollywood in the coming years.
