Much like any other metropolitan city in India, even Hyderabad often faces extreme situations when it rains torrentially in the city. A similar situation was observed last night when the city witnessed huge rainfall in all the major urban pockets.
The road from Kukatpally to Shaikpet was the worst hit. There was a severe traffic jam in this area as commuters took hours together to reach the destinations.
On top of that pools of water accumulated underneath the Metro pillars, which created more panic amongst the commuters. The situation turned out to be particularly bad in the peak traffic hours around 8 in the night.
There have been several calls for better drainage system in the city, and the chief minister Revanth Reddy has also addressed the same. Last night was another pressure point as people found it extremely hard to reach their homes due to the water logging.
Several areas, including Madhapur, Jubilee Hills, Manikonda, and others were badly hit by the water logging situation. People are now calling on the government for more productive measures when it comes to drainage clearance and water logging issues across the city.
