Danger Bells at Uppada Amidst Cyclone Montha, CBN & Pawan In Action

The sea has turned rough along the Kakinada coast as Cyclone Montha moves closer to Andhra Pradesh. Strong winds and high waves have caused heavy damage to the Beach Road between Kakinada and Uppada, forcing officials to close it to the public for safety reasons. The Kakinada port has issued warning 7 in this regard across the Godavari coastal areas.

Around 8 kilometres of the road have been badly damaged, with some parts completely washed away by the sea. The popular Uppada Beach area has also been affected, as strong winds and rough waves have begun striking the newly constructed coastal protection wall, which is still under development.

The storm surge has already hit the region with the seawater coming 7 feet ahead into the land resulting in coastal inundation and are affecting the low lying areas of Uppada village where the houses are already damaged from a long time and now due to the cyclone, they are on the verge of collapse. In this regard, as a temporary relief the officials are now trying to keep the sandabags to protect the coastline and low-lying areas.

As the Cyclone is becoming stronger, District officials block traffic on the road and put warning signs in place. Police and local authorities are asking people not to go near the beach until the situation improves. The AP Disaster Response and Marine Police  teams are on alert and people living in low-lying coastal areas have been told to move to safer places.

Meanwhile CM Babu and DCM Pawan Kalyan are constantly in touch with the locals and officials through tele conferences straight from Amravati and are making sure that all the emergency measures in place and relief operations are undertaken.
