Meet The New Chief Justice Of India, Surya Kant!

The position of chief justice is generally held with the highest regard in the Indian judicial system, as this individual supreme when it comes to the judicial ranking. And now, India has appointed its newest chief justice and he is none other than Surya Kant who is widely regarded for his precise endeavours. 

Justice Surya Kant has been appointed the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI) in Delhi a short while back and will assume office on November 24 and serve until February 9, 2027, succeeding Justice Bhushan R. Gavai, who will leave office on November 23.

He has been part of key verdicts on the abrogation of Article 370, Bihar electoral roll revision, and the Pegasus spyware case. Appointed on October 30, he will serve for nearly 15 months and step down from the office on February 9, 2027, upon turning 65. 

Surya Kant is primarily from Haryana, and he had been one of the most dynamic judges in the country for a long time now. The top administration reportedly felt he would be the right man for the position of the chief Justice of India and rightly rewarded him with the position today.
