The Three Epic Failures!

Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya proved to be a successful combination with Baby. The film turned into a sensational hit and created a strong buzz around the duo. Naturally, their next outing, Epic, carried expectations. However, Epic, directed by Aditya Hasan of 90s fame, has turned out to be a major disappointment at the box-office. Epic failure thus could affect three key names associated with it.

1: Aditya Hasan

The success of 90s earned Aditya Hasan a very good recognition, especially among youngsters and family audiences. That goodwill helped him create expectations for Epic. But the film’s poor response is a setback for the director, who was looking to build on the credibility he gained with the 90s. This may certainly affect his next projects as well as his confidence. This is when Aditya Hasan should gain courage to process the Epic failure and doesn’t let this result affect his next films – be it in writing or making.

2: Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya

The Baby combo had its own craze, and Epic was expected to strengthen that further. Interestingly, Anand and Vaishnavi once again had good chemistry in the film. But when a much-awaited combination delivers a disappointing film, the combo factor certainly takes a major hit.

Already, Vaishnavi lost Chennai Lovestory for which she was the first choice. But she gave it up and pinned all hopes on the Epic. While Chennai Love Story turned out to be a success, Epic turned out to be a failure. This is certainly a shocking result for Vaishnavi. So, it is for Anand who pinned all hopes for a strong comeback after Gam Gam Ganesha’s failure. The Epic failure could now make things slightly tougher for their upcoming individual films. Both actors now have to prove that their market and audience pull based on their next choices.

3: Producer Naga Vamsi

Producer Naga Vamsi has been looking to bounce back after a series of disappointments. He tasted success with films like Lenin and Vishwanath and Sons, showing that he can back both commercial entertainers and experimental concepts. While Lenin was a more commercial film, Vishwanath and Sons was an experimental attempt with a star like Suriya, yet it managed to click with the audience. Epic, however, has failed to continue that success streak.

Ultimately, Epic is not just another box-office disappointment. Its failure has come at a crucial point for Aditya Hasan, the Anand–Vaishnavi combination and Naga Vamsi. All three now have to look ahead and ensure that this setback doesn’t affect their next moves.
