3 Italians Fly Out Of India Without Immigration, Air India In Trouble

Air India is facing serious questions after 3 Italian passengers reportedly flew out of India without completing the mandatory departure immigration process. The incident happened at Delhi airport and has now caught the attention of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Home Ministry.

According to reports, the three passengers travelled from Amritsar to Delhi on an Air India flight during the night of September 3-4. They reached Delhi around 12:50 AM and boarded a Lufthansa flight to Munich at around 1:45 AM.

The major issue is that the passengers did not go through departure immigration before boarding the international flight. They reportedly received boarding passes for both flights at Amritsar and were then taken through the international transfer route at Delhi airport.

However, the special transfer facility used for such connections was reportedly not applicable to their journey. They were supposed to exit through the domestic arrivals area in Delhi and complete the required immigration process before proceeding for their international flight.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has described the incident as a serious security and immigration lapse. A show-cause notice was issued to Air India on September 12, including CEO Campbell Wilson. The airline has been asked to explain within seven days how the passengers received the wrong boarding passes and how they managed to reach the international departure area without immigration clearance.

The Home Ministry is also looking into the matter. A meeting involving senior officials from aviation, immigration, intelligence agencies, Air India and Delhi airport authorities is expected to examine how the lapse happened.

Air India has not yet publicly commented on the incident. The matter came to light after officials later checked the passenger records.

The incident has raised serious questions about the coordination between airline staff airport authorities and immigration officials. The government now wants a clear explanation from Air India on how three passengers managed to leave the country without completing the mandatory exit immigration process.
