Tamil Nadu granite businessman R. Veeramani is facing serious allegations in a POCSO case in Chennai, with the police investigation now reportedly involving more than nine minor girls.
The case came to light after an anonymous complaint was submitted to the police along with a pen drive containing alleged video evidence. The footage reportedly showed a minor girl being sexually assaulted at a house in Chennai. Police later identified Veeramani as the man seen in the video.
Veeramani and two associates were arrested after a Special POCSO Court directed the police to continue the investigation. The court had earlier rejected a police report seeking to close the case and ordered a fresh probe.
The investigation has now taken a major turn, with police reportedly identifying several survivors and recording their statements. The girl seen in the original video has also reportedly been traced, and her statement was recorded before a Judicial Magistrate.
Police are also examining allegations involving other girls and investigating the role of people who may have been connected to the incidents. Electronic devices and other material recovered during the investigation are also being examined.
The case is still under investigation and the allegations against Veeramani have not been established by a court. Since the matter involves minors, their identities and any details that could reveal them are being protected.
