Save The Tigers was a smash hit on Hotstar and the makers have released the second season. This time, Arun Kothapally directed the series which was created by Mahi V Raghav. Krishna Chaitanya, Priyadarshi, and Abhinav Gomatam play the main lead in this show. Ajay Arasada composed the music.

Plot

Save The Tigers is about three frustrated husbands played by Priyadarshi, Abhinav Gomatam, and Krishna Chaitanya. At the end of the first season, they are arrested for kidnapping a heroine named Hamsalekha(Seerat Kapoor). The second season starts with the three guys getting discharged and forming a new association with Hamsalekha. While the character of Priyadarshi wants to become a corporator, Krishna Chaitanya finds a new girl and Abhinav Gomatam gets the chance to pen a story for a feature film. How the advent of Hamsalekha changes the lives of these three and how their wives deal with it is the basic story.

Performances

Save The Tigers was a major hit thanks to the quirky performances of the lead cast. However, the same does not happen in the second season. Only a few actors give their best. Priyadarshi once again gives a settled performance. He plays the father of a teenage girl and showcases decent emotions. Though Sujatha sounds loud, she is the one who raises the tempo in season 2. Tejawini is there just for the sake of it and does not bring anything new to the table. The same is the case with Krishna Chaitanya as well. He too plays his part and leaves. But it is Abhinav Gomatam who does so well in his role. The way he mouths his dialogues and lists up the screens with his presence is the best part of season 2. Seerat Kapoor sleepwalks in her role. Srikanth Iyengar is loud as hell. Ganggavva was just about okay.

Technical Aspects

The punch dialogues, witty humor, and gripping screenplay were a major plus in the first season. But that does not happen in the second as the writing is weak. The production values are okay and the music is fine. The screenplay is not that great and more gripping scenes related to humor and fun would have made a world of good. The camerawork is superb and lavishly showcases the show. The editing is not that great as the show could have been wrapped in just six episodes but it feels dragged.

Analysis

When it comes to the second season, the show’s creator, Mahi V Raghav has added things in a way that there are more emotional moments and coming-of-age drama in the seven-episode series. He pens the story in such a way that he gives each character a proper ending and shows the husbands that they have changed for good. Though this looks nice for a family viewing, the fans of the show who love the witty humor will be disappointed.

There are no standout moments of comedy and drama in the show. The forest episode, though looks loud brings a relief factor for a few minutes. The entire fourth episode is dragged for no reason. The chemistry between Abhinav Gomatam and his maid Roshini was one of the highlights of the first season. But this angle is not used properly.

In the same way, Priyadarshi’s character wanting to become a corporator has been dragged for no reason. All the scenes involving Mama look boring and dragged. Yet another major drawback is the lack of comedy scenes between the three main leads. Their fun banter in season one itself gave us a lot of laughs. But that does not happen here.

One place where the show clicks is the way the emotions are carried out. The way each character realizes their mistakes is told nicely without being melodramatic. There is comedy but it is only in bits and pieces. When you compare seasons one and two, the first part takes away the cake as it has hilarious comedy, crazy situations, and relatable moments.

Finally, Save The Tigers 2 is more about family moments and coming-of-age drama which a particular audience might not like once they start streaming. The show is neither great nor bad and falls in between and can be watched if you have absolutely nothing to do. Just lower your expectations.

Bottom line – Not as good as season one
