The incident occurred when Jordan Andrade allegedly stabbed Varun in the head at a public gym’s massage room, specifically the Planet Fitness Club, located in Valparaiso, Indiana. This shocking act of violence transpired on a Sunday morning, as reported by The Times of Northwest Indiana.
The distressing news has even reached the attention of the US State Department, prompting a statement expressing their deep concern and empathy. A State Department spokesperson conveyed, “We are deeply disturbed by reports of a brutal attack against Indian graduate student Varun Raj Pucha. We wish him a full recovery from his injuries. We defer to local law enforcement for any questions about this ongoing case,” as conveyed to ANI.
