Hours after US President Donald Trump offered to help to de-escalate the tensions between India and Pakistan and said he shares good relationships with both the countries, Vice President JD Vance made a striking statement. In an interview with Fox News, JD Vance reflected on the intensifying conflict between India and Pakistan.
“That’s fundamentally none of our business,” JD Vance said, hinting that the USA will not directly involve itself in the India-Pakistan conflict. “What Secretary Rubio said, and certainly the President has said, is we want this thing to de-escalate as quickly as possible. We can’t control these countries, though. Fundamentally, India has its gripes with Pakistan,” he added.
Vance, who was in India along with his family, including his Indian-origin wife, Usha Vance, during the Pahalgam terror attack in April, further added, “What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit. But we’re not going to get involved in the middle of war. That’s fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it.”
Earlier, US Secretary Marco Rubio spoke to India’s Minister of External Affairs Jaishankar and Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif and urged both countries for an “immediate de-escalation.” Yesterday, US President Donald Trump said he shares “good relationships with both India and Pakistan,” and he wants to see the tensions stop. “If I can do anything to help, I will be there,” Trump said.
