Marriage Turns Mystery: Indian Woman Missing in U.S

A 24-year-old woman who reportedly arrived in the US, despite having no known relatives and not knowing English, to attend an arranged marriage has gone missing.

According to the authorities, Simran was last seen on June 20 after her arrival in New Jersey from India. Lindenwold police said that the surveillance footage showed her checking her phone and waiting for someone. She did not appear to be in agony or in distress in the CCTV footage, the police said.

The police said that preliminary probe revealed she arrived in the US for an arranged marriage. Reportedly, she had gone missing five days after her arrival in the US.

Her phone is an international device that functions through Wi-Fi. When the authorities tried reach her family members in India, they could not get in touch with anyone.

Lindenwold police said that there are no known family members in India to contact or to obtain information on her possible whereabouts. At the same time, police said that the marriage was an excuse to obtain free airfare to America, according to The NY Post.

Police disclosed details about her physical appearance. Simran is five feet, four inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds (68 kg), with a small scar on the left side of her forehead.

The last time she was seen is in gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip-flops and diamond-studded earrings. The police requested the people to contact Lindenwold police detective Joe Tomasetti and pass on the information about her to them, if they have information about her.
