An Indian national was killed in an air mishap involving a commercial survey aircraft at Newfoundland in Canada, according to the Consulate General of Indian in Toronto on Tuesday.
According to reports, a small plane crashed near an airport in Canada’s Deer Lake in Newfoundland on July 26. The Indian national killed in mishap was identified as Gautam Santhosh. The Indian mission offered its condolences and assured to provide all the support to his family.
Santhosh, a native of Kerala, was working with the Delta, British Columbia-headquartered Kisik Aerial Survey Inc, which operated the Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) stated that two people were on board the aircraft when the mishap occurred and both were declared dead on the spot.
British Columbia-based company Kisik Geospatial and Aerial Survey owner Andrew Naysmith said that they were devastated and heartbroken by the loss.
The aircraft involved in the crash was reportedly a ‘Piper Navajo twin-engine plane’, which can hold up to eight passengers at once.
An investigation was launched by the Transport Safety Board of Canada (TSB).
