Parle – G’s Price In Dallas Shocks Netizens!!

A reel shot by an Indian expat in the US showcasing a range of Indian food products available at a Walmart store in Dallas has gone viral on Instagram. It caught the attention of people in India, mainly due to the exorbitant prices. 

In the video, the Indian expat, Rajat, walks the viewers through the store’s aisles, showing the products like Royal lentils, Haldiram’s snacks, Parle biscuits, and various spice mixes and sauces. The products from India are stocked in large quantities as the customer base in Dallas is mainly from India. The prices range from $4 to $4.5 for products like dal, namkeen and biscuits.

“Guys, let me show you some Indian products available in Walmart here in America. By the way, this is Walmart in Dallas. You can find Royal brand lentils like masoor dal and moong dal for around 4 dollars each. Haldiram’s khatta meetha namkeen is priced at 4 dollars, and their aloo bhujia also costs 4 dollars.

Parle’s Hide & Seek biscuits are about 4.5 dollars. Look at this shelf — it has Parle-G, Good Day, biryani masala, tandoori masala, butter chicken sauce, and many other items. Since there are so many Indian customers in Dallas, Walmart has to stock these products to meet their needs,” Rajat says in the video. “Indian food items at Walmart in Dallas,” a text on the video reads.

While a few netizens felt curious seeing the same products in Dallas like in India, many others expressed surprise over how expensive the products were in the foreign country, when compared to India.

“Oh no, it is very expensive as we compare to India,” wrote one user. Another said: “4 dollars ka hide and seek biscuit? That’s 320. India mai 20 ka milta. Half Kg Daal almost Rs 400? Wow, so expensive.”

The video should be an eye opener to Indians planning to settle in foreign countries, mainly to earn more. It is not only income that is more, even the expenses would also be commensurate.

In the developed countries, life seems to sophisticated and luxurious only on the outside, making us realise that everything comes at a cost.

With the spike in the tariffs under Trump’s administration and the transportation cost, Indian products are more costly in US, when compared to India. A little logic would unveil the reality check for all those brooding over not being able to make it to the foreign shores.
