Malayalam Actress Rejected Peddi, What’s The Reason?

Ram Charan is currently one of the top stars in India. With RRR, he earned international recognition. For any actress, acting in an important role in such a star’s film would normally be a big opportunity. However, Malayalam actress Swasika reportedly said no when she was approached for a crucial role in Charan’s new film “Peddi.” Even after the film’s team requested her multiple times, she firmly declined the offer.

This naturally raises curiosity about why she rejected such a high-profile project. According to reports, she was offered the role of Charan’s mother. Swasika is 33 years old, while Ram Charan is already 40. Though she has played a few middle-aged roles in Tamil and Malayalam films and is known more for her character roles, being asked to play the mother of someone seven years older than her made her uncomfortable.

She revealed that she is not ready to take up such roles at this stage in her career, which is why she rejected the offer despite being approached several times.

Swasika has been acting since 2009. She was introduced as a heroine in Tamil cinema with the film Vagai and later appeared in several Tamil and Malayalam movies. She also acted in a small Telugu film, Etu Chusina Nuvve. Recently, some of her character roles in Tamil and Malayalam have received good recognition.

In particular, her performance as the elder sister in Maman, starring Soori, brought her a lot of appreciation. Around the same time, she re-entered Telugu films with Thammudu, where she played a unique role as a truck driver in the forest. Unfortunately, the film turned out to be a disaster and did not give her a break in Telugu.

Had she accepted the mother role in Charan’s film, it might have earned her good recognition, but since she felt it was not appropriate for her age, she chose to decline it. At present, Swasika is playing a key role in Karuppu, starring Suriya, and has several projects lined up in Tamil and Malayalam cinema.
