Following a flash raid at Hyundai’s car battery plant in Ellabell, Georgia, that led to the arrests of 475 South Korean workers on September 4, US President Donald Trump has “warned” foreign companies to respect US immigration laws. Trump also urged the foreign companies to “bring very smart people legally.”
Taking to Truth Social, Trump welcomed foreign investments in America but insisted compliance with American immigration law is non-negotiable. “Following the Immigration Enforcement Operation on the Hyundai Battery Plant in Georgia, I am hereby calling on all Foreign Companies investing in the United States to please respect our Nation’s Immigration Laws,” Trump posted.
Trump further added that investments in the US are welcome, urging companies to bring their people “LEGALLY.” “Your Investments are welcome, and we encourage you to LEGALLY bring your very smart people, with great technical talent, to build World Class products, and we will make it quickly and legally possible for you to do so. What we ask in return is that you hire and train American Workers,” Trump added in his post.
Trump went on to say, “Together, we will all work hard to make our Nation not only productive, but closer in unity than ever before. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he concluded. Trump’s latest post comes at a time when the US unemployment rate hits a four-year high at 4.3%, resulting in the creation of only 22,000 new jobs in August.
