US: NRI Shot Dead After Stopping Man from Public Urination

Shock and grief spread across Barah Kalan village in Jind district, Haryana, after receiving the tragic news of 26-year-old Kapil’s death in the United States.

Kapil, who worked as a security guard in California, was shot dead when he objected to a man urinating outside the premises where he was on duty. Reports say that after Kapil confronted the man, the accused pulled out a gun and shot him on the spot.

Kapil was the only son of Ishwar, a farmer in Barah Kalan village. He had gone to the US in 2022 through the ‘donkey route’, a risky illegal migration path that included crossing the Panama jungles and climbing the Mexico border wall. His family had spent nearly Rs 45 lakh to send him abroad. Although he was arrested initially for illegal entry, he was later released and managed to settle in the US.

The family was informed about his death by a relative living in America. Kapil also leaves behind two sisters, one of whom is married. The grieving family is now planning to meet the deputy commissioner to request that his body be brought back to India.
