Doctor From Guntur Ends Life After US Visa Denial

A lady doctor named Rohini hailing from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh ended her life by committing suicide out of depression over denial of J1 Visa by US authorities. She consumed sleeping pills at her residence in Hyderabad earlier today and breathed her last before her family members came to know about her situation. Her dead body was sent for postmortem and a case was registered by police.

According to her mother, Rohini completed MBBS in Russia a few years ago and went to USA for further studies and practice. She has been trying to secure J1 Visa to continue her reasearch and residency in MBBS in a reputed medical university in USA from the past one year.

Unfortunately, US President Donald Trump’s recent promulgations tightening Visa norms for corporate job holders and researchers have forced Roshini to return to India a few weeks ago.

Since then, Roshini has been trying to get her J1 Visa processed through US consulate in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the medical university in USA has been putting pressure on Roshini to join the reasearch program as soon as possible to avoid termination of her admission. Though her J1 Visa application cleared the initial stages of processing, US consulate denied her Visa in the final round and this news has pushed her into acute depression and forced her to take the extreme decision.
