Over the last one year or so, we have been hearing cases of fatalities involving the Indian community in Canada. The number of Indian origin victims for criminal activities in the country have been going up steeply. Now we have another addition for the list as a 28 year old Indian origin man was reportedly shot dead in Canada’s Burnaby.
Canadian police have confirmed that a 28-year-old Indian-origin man was killed in a targeted shooting in Burnaby, British Columbia, in an incident believed to be linked to the ongoing BC gang conflict.
The victim has been identified as Dilraj Singh Gill, a Vancouver resident. The shooting took place near Canada Way on January 22, and a vehicle was found burning minutes later in another part of the city as the police suspect foul play.
Dilraj Singh was reportedly known to polish and it is established that certain drug trade activity could have fuelled this murder in the first place. The police are currently investigating the case from multiple angles and more clarity will emerge soon.
