Trump’s Deadline Looms, All Eyes on Iran!

The US – Israel war on Iran has entered its second month, yet there is no sign of permanent ceasefire so far. US President Donald Trump, who is playing an instrumental role in this entire geopolitical conflict, has set a 48 hour deadline which ends this Tuesday night. He issued threats and serious warnings as the deadline looms, but Iran refuses to make a deal. 

With just a few hours left, Trump has issued another stern warning which has caught the global attention. Trump said Iran could be wiped out in just 4 hours if Tehran fails to come to terms over opening of Strait of Hormuz, a crucial energy route controlled by Iran. 

A day after his expletive laden threats through his social media platform which was met with a strong riposte from Iran, Trump has now again warned that every bridge and powerplant would be decimated by Tuesday night. Trump further claimed that he has no idea whether the war is winding down or escalating. 

Speaking at the White House Trump said, “We have a plan, because of the power of our military, where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business…it’ll happen over a period of 4hrs if we want it to. We don’t want that to happen.”

Reportedly, a 45 day ceasefire agreement has been proposed to Iran through Pakistan to end the hostility and enter negotiations over other issues. However, Iran has refused to accept the offer and asked for a permanent end to the war and also demanded damages done to its infrastructure. 

The Iranian proposal is said to have 10 clauses, including a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and lifting of all sanctions, which Trump has not acceded to. 

So, with the clock ticking fast towards the crucial Tuesday night which could decide the fate this war, all eyes will be on Iran and how Trump responds once the deadline is reached.
