It has been a few months since United States president Donald Trump created a panic situation for the Indian community by imposing $100K fee on H1B Visa. However, the latest developments are suggesting that a federal judge in the United States has ruled against this.
A federal judge has scrapped President Donald Trump’s requirement of a $100,000 application fee for H-1B visas.
The judge pointed out that Trump lacked authority to impose the new policy for a program used by companies to hire highly skilled foreign workers in specialized fields.
Judge Leo Sorokin ruled the fee is effectively a tax regardless of what it is called and that Congress never authorized the executive branch to impose.
Needless to say, for many skilled workers, especially those building careers and supporting families in America, the proposed fee had created uncertainty and anxiety.
The Trump administration is expected to challenge the ruling, but for now, a major burden has been lifted.
