What was meant to be a peaceful day by the sea turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for two Indian origin students in California. Harshita Nair, 21, and Mahial Sran, 20, lost their lives after being caught in dangerous ocean conditions near a beach known for unpredictable tides.
The two young women were reportedly resting near the shoreline when rising waters suddenly swept them into the sea. The force of the waves and strong currents left little time for anyone around them to react.
Rescue teams rushed into action and launched a major operation. Several trained swimmers entered the water and managed to pull both women out before they were shifted to hospitals for treatment.
Despite the desperate rescue efforts, the outcome was devastating. Harshita and Mahial could not survive, leaving their families, friends and local community in deep shock. Both were young students with bright futures ahead of them.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the hidden dangers of California’s coastline. Locals say the sea can appear calm one moment and turn dangerous the next, making even a casual visit to the beach a life changing risk.
