A massive explosion at Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG complex has claimed 13 lives, including 12 Indian workers, according to officials. The blast occurred during operational restart at the key energy facility, triggering widespread concern over safety in one of the world’s largest gas hubs.
Authorities confirmed that more were injured in the incident. Emergency teams rushed to the site and brought the fire under control, while investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
The Ras Laffan complex is a crucial part of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas production, making the incident highly significant for global energy markets. Officials have assured that export operations remain unaffected despite the tragedy.
Indian authorities are in touch with Qatari officials and are providing support to the affected families, as the nation mourns the loss of its citizens working abroad.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by workers in large-scale industrial and energy projects in the Gulf region.
