US Court Rejects Trump’s $100,000 H1B Visa Fee Plan

US President Donald Trump has suffered another legal setback over his administration’s decision to impose a $100,000 fee on new H1B visas. A federal appeals court has refused to suspend an earlier ruling that blocked the fee hike, dealing a blow to the administration’s immigration policy.

Earlier, a Boston federal court struck down the proposed fee, saying the administration did not have the authority to impose such a charge without approval from Congress. The Trump administration challenged that decision and requested the appeals court to put the ruling on hold.

However, the appeals court rejected the request, allowing the lower court’s order to remain in force while the legal battle continues. The judges said the administration had failed to show that it was likely to succeed in overturning the ruling.

The Trump administration had announced the steep fee increase as part of its effort to reduce the use of H1B visas by US companies. The visa program is widely used by technology firms to hire highly skilled foreign professionals, including thousands from India.
