Former AP minister and senior YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh and several members of his family have landed in legal trouble after a Gruha Himsa complaint was filed by his daughter in law.
The complaint was filed by Meghana, wife of Jogi Ramesh’s son Rajeev. She alleged that she had been subjected to mental and physical harassment since her marriage over demands for additional dowry. She also claimed that other family members supported and encouraged the alleged harassment.
Based on her complaint, Ibrahimpatnam police in NTR district registered a case against 11 members of the family. The FIR reportedly includes charges related to domestic violence, dowry harassment, cheating and other serious offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
Police have started the investigation and recorded the complainant’s initial statement. They are also collecting supporting evidence and other records as part of the probe.
Officials are expected to issue notices to the accused for questioning in the coming days. The case has become another major legal challenge for Jogi Ramesh and his family, while the investigation is ongoing.
