The shocking pattern of deaths due to unfortunate accidents in abroad refuse to die down as more similar incidents continue to take place every now and then. Now, a young Indian-origin student lost life in a tragic road accident in California.
Reports suggest that 19 year old Alli Renee Singh died after the car she was traveling in fell off a coastal cliff and sank into the ocean near the famous Steamer Lane surf spot in Santa Cruz. She was a psychology student at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
The accident happened when the vehicle went over the edge along West Cliff Drive and landed in the water below. A male passenger inside managed to escape with minor injuries, but Alli was trapped inside the submerged vehicle.
Emergency teams and four professional divers rushed to the spot and pulled her out of the sea. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors later declared her dead.
This fatal crash has raised serious safety concerns among local residents and visitors. The stretch of road along West Cliff Drive has suffered severe coastal erosion over recent years and resulted in several tragedies.
