The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft and several other companies from accessing the Permanent Labor Certification programme, accusing them of abusing the visa system. The action also affects Adobe and IT firms including Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL and Capgemini.
Vice President JD Vance specifically pointed to Microsoft’s layoffs and use of foreign worker visas, saying the move is aimed at protecting American workers. The Labor Department said the companies are facing federal investigations over alleged visa related violations.
