As technology advances beyond comprehension, there are going to be certain complications that could be affecting the day-to-day lives. Here is one such story that has happened in France.
Reportedly hundreds of supermarkets across France were hit by a cyber attack through Remote operations as the hackers took control of the refrigerators in these premises.
The temperature inside the refrigerator were increased to 50°C, which seriously triggered health hazard in the food items. Apparently, the supermarket had to disclose these food items as they got spoiled due to the malfunctioning of the refrigerators.
Subsequently hundreds of tons of fresh food and processed food items had to be disposed which resulted in huge waste of resources.
This massive cyber attack has targeted the food resources which is extremely unethical as such wastage is never a good thing in this market. And also, it is raising questions about the integrity of digital infrastructure at these places.
When people are able to hack into systems and waste hundreds of tons of food, what could be the future of this interconnected systems. If this happens at a large scale across the globe, one can imagine the kind of food wastage that would be happening.
