US Politicians Visiting Temples, Serving Dosas For Indian Voters!

Just like the Indian elections and our election campaigns, where our politicians do various tricks and stunts like visiting temples and other religious places, and serving customers at food joints as part of their election campaign and publicity, USA politicians are also following this same trend to woo the voters in the midterm elections.

US politicians are serving dosas and also visiting Hindu temples to attract their votes by sending signals to Indian-American voters who play a prominent role.

In many constituencies, Indian-American voters are an important group with a significant population. Candidates are making special efforts to attract these voters by visiting temples, attending Diwali celebrations and even trying their hand at cooking dosas.

Democratic candidate James Talarico recently visited an Indian restaurant in Irving, a Dallas suburb, where he tried making dosas. He cooked dosas, filled them with potato curry and served them on plates lined with banana leaves. His attempt received applause from people present at the restaurant. Irving has a sizeable Indian-American population.

Meanwhile, US Senator Cory Booker attended Diwali celebrations. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, who is seeking another term, also took part in the festivities. Several other political leaders have been visiting prominent Hindu temples, including BAPS Swaminarayan temples and Akshardham, to connect with Indian-American voters.

With every vote potentially making a difference in a closely contested election, candidates are trying different ways to reach out to voters and win their support.

The US midterm elections on November 3, with early voting already underway in some areas. With such campaigns of visiting Temples and serving Dosas and taking part in Diwali celebrations, US politicians are proving that they are no less than Indian political leaders.

Meanwhile, several opinion polls suggest that the ruling Republican Party could face a tough challenge in these midterm elections. Concerns over inflation and the economy are among the major issues influencing voters.

However, many Americans feel that neither Republicans nor Democrats have presented a clear plan to improve their financial situation in the US. Polls also suggest that there is no major electoral wave in favour of either party at this stage, making the outcome difficult to predict. Let’s see what is in store. For now, politicians of both parties are busy campaigning for votes.
