Proven political strategist and I-PAC founder Prashant Kishor is likely to join the Congress Party. Strong speculations are doing the rounds that PK could be inducted into the grand old party. Fueling these speculations, Rahul Gandhi had a brainstorming session with party’s senior leaders over PK’s entry into the party and the pros and cons.
The other day, Rahul discussed the same with party senior leaders Kamal Nath, Mallikarjun Kharge, AK Antony, Ajay Maken, Anand Sharma, Harish Rawat, Ambika Soni and KC Venugopal. Rather than being just an advisor to the party from outside, Congress is mulling over to rope in PK into the party and honour him with a crucial post. It is buzzed that PK could be made the Congress Party’s General Secretary.
Rahul and Congress is of the opinion that PK could be a great value addition. Ahead of the Assembly elections in 5 states – Goa, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Punjab, Congress wants PK in its fold.
However, Congress is concerned about PK’s nature and his past track record. As PK had joined Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United (JDU) and was made No.2 in the party, but later parted ways due to differences. JDU had expelled Prashant Kishor from the party. Considering this, Congress leaders want to define PK’s role and functionary in the party. The party could set boundaries to his scope of work. PK could be made the General Secretary-Elections in the states which are going to face Assembly elections in 2022.
Earlier this month, PK had met Gandhis and held a detailed discussion. Held at Rahul Gandhi’s residence with Priyanka Gandhi present, Sonia Gandhi had participated in the meet via video-link. Thus, PK had a high-profile meet with the highest decision-making triumvirate of Congress.Since then, things are progressing at fast pace. PK is inching closer towards Congress.
