Smita Sabharwal, who is an Indian Administrative Service officer belonging to the Telangana cadre, tweeted on the occasion of National Handloom Day, expressing her love and fondness towards the handlooms and Gadwal sarees in particular.
Smita posted a couple of pictures, looking beautiful draped in a magnificent Gadwal saree. Another picture showcases the outlet with the Gadwal sarees displayed. “Saree swag. In six yards of Gadwal glory! Handcrafted in Jogulamba, Gadwal. Greetings to our weavers on #NationalHandloomDay,” tweeted Sabharwal.
Telangana Handlooms are very famous among Telugu speaking and its neighbouring states. Telangana is home to Gadwal sarees, Kothakota sarees, Pochampally sarees, Narayanpet and Gollabhama sarees. Talking about Gadwal sarees, we can witness a humongous craze of this kind. Gadwal pure cotton sarees are woven in small checks with rich silk and gold border and pallu. different colour horizontal weaving zari border and rich zari pallu.
