Mumbai’s Mayor said that the third wave of Covid is already upon the city, stating the sudden surge in cases. “The third-wave of Covid-19 is not coming, it is here,” said Mayor Kishori Pednekar. He further added that an announcement on the same had already been made in Nagpur.
Citing Ganesh Chaturthi in the next couple of days, the Mayor urged people in Maharashtra to remain in their homes and avoid gatherings. Only 10 people are allowed in the festive season as Mumbai reported 379 fresh cases of coronavirus and five fatalities.
The concern has piled up as the surges come just ahead of the festival. Meanwhile, CM Uddav Thackeray ordered to cancel all political rallies and religious events. “Public health is very important. Festivals can be celebrated in future. We have to be strict to avoid the third wave,” Mr Thackeray reportedly quoted.
On the other hand, Telangana recorded 301 new cases on Monday and 2 deaths. On Monday, 67,720 samples were tested for the coronavirus and completed testing 2.50 crore samples.
