The back-to-back arrest of two senior leaders of the party has affected the confidence of the TDP to the core. TDP is looking for moral support from fellow political parties as it accuses the ruling government of “vendetta” politics. Amidst this, all hands point at Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan who was a former ally of TDP.
When Janasena MLA Rapaka was arrested last year allegedly in connection with an attack on Razole police station, Rapaka had denied the allegations and alleged that the police officials had misbehaved with him and his supporters. Though police alleged that property of the police station was damaged by Rapaka and his supporters, Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu had strongly stood by Janasena MLA Rapaka Varaprasada Rao. Naidu had condemned the act of government by arresting MLA and alleged that the government was trying to muzzle the voice of opposition party leaders.
Similarly, TDP is now expecting Janasena to strongly condemn the arrest of former minister Atchannaidu and ex MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son JC Asmith Reddy. However, Pawan’s silence on such a major political development in the state is not expected.
With a section of BJP leaders like GVL having welcomed the arrest of Atchannaidu allegedly in connection with the corruption that took place in ESI, BJP’s ally Janasena is in dilemma on whether to support the Opposition TDP or not. And TDP leaders are now worried over Pawan’s silence. Let’s wait and see, what would Pawan say on the whole issue.
