The Supreme Court of India has directed the Telangana government to clear the dues to be paid to AP government in a week’s time. The Supreme’s directives are made on the bifurcation of Telugu Academy’s assets.
Regarding the bifurcation of funds of the academy, the Telangana government has kept them pending for nearly seven years. Concerned over the delay the AP government knocked the Supreme Court and the bench comprising Justice Chandrachud, Vikramnath, BV Naga Ratna summoned the Telangana government to clear the dues in seven days.
During the hearing, the Telangana government requested for two weeks time. Declining the request, the Supreme Court suggested resolving assets and funds between the states. The apex court also advised the Telugu states to work on the pending issues such as sharing of employees, immovable assets and come to a logical conclusion.
The AP government urged the Supreme Court to appoint a committee led by retired Judge on the bifurcation of Telugu Academy. However, the Telangana government objected to this and added that they would approach the same method that was done for the bifurcation of assets between the Telugu states.
