Doctors and police are now warning that this shortcut could end in a life threatening emergency.

Hyderabad Police today, busted an illegal racket supplying “Mephentermine Sulphate injections”, a medicine meant only for emergency treatment in hospitals. Acting on a tip off, Saifabad Police arrested three people and seized 100 injections worth around Rs 4 lakh, along with mobile phones and a motorcycle. Police said the injections were allegedly brought from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and sold illegally to youngsters looking for quick muscle growth.

What Is Mephentermine?

Mephentermine Sulphate is a prescription medicine used in hospitals to treat dangerously low blood pressure during surgeries and other medical emergencies. It is not a bodybuilding drug and should only be given under a doctor’s supervision.

Why Are People Using It?

Some gym enthusiasts believe the injection increases stamina, reduces tiredness and helps them build muscles faster. However, fitness experts say there is no safe shortcut to a strong body. Proper training, a balanced diet and enough rest are the only healthy ways to build muscle.

Police say this is not an isolated case. Similar illegal networks supplying steroids and prescription injections to gym goers have been uncovered in Telangana in recent months. Authorities are continuing their crackdown on those selling these drugs illegally.
