The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to provide Rs 50,000 ex-gratia to the kin of those who died due to Covid-19.
The medical and health department issued orders directing all the collectors to release the money from their disaster relief funds towards the ex-gratia. The state officials have decided to extend the financial aid following directives from the central government.
The state government appointed district-level committees to ascertain Covid deaths and finalise those eligible for the ex-gratia. The committee would scrutinize the documents and then take a decision about extending the monetary help.
Health department principal secretary Anil Kumar Singhal said that the respective collectors should set up special cells, headed by the DRO, to scrutinize the applications. The applicants should be issued special receipts and a unique number after receiving the applications.
The applicants should enclose the death certificate issued by the district-level committee along with the application and then submit the same to the respective collectors to claim the ex-gratia amount.
The applicants should also mention their Aadhaar number and bank account number in the application. Singhal issued orders that the ex-gratia should be disbursed within two weeks of submitting the application.
The higher officials also instructed the medical and health department employees to submit weekly reports about the disbursement of Covid ex-gratia to the victims’ families. The government had already released the application for this purpose.
