Drugs Worth Rs 5.5 Cr Seized In Hyderabad

The Hyderabad police are cracking down on the drugs and freshly 14.2 kilos of Pseudoephedrine was seized by the cops. This value of the seized drugs could be around Rs 5.5 crore, estimated the police.

The Hyderabad police carried out a joint operation with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at an international courier agency in Begumpet with information from the intelligence sources.

The cops and DRI officials noticed two parcels destined to Australia and were extracted from the courier agency. Upon opening the parcels, nearly 22 photo frames were seized. These frames had a plastic covers with white substance between two layers and when the substance was tested, it showed positive for Pseudoephedrine.

The police received credible information that the drug smugglers are targeting the New Year and large quantities of drugs are likely to pass through in Hyderabad in the coming days. In the last 15 days, the police have arrested 79 smugglers and lodged 54 NDPS Act cases against the arrested.
