Transfer Rs 250 Crs, AP Gov Allegedly Asked NTR Uni

The financial mismanagement by the YCP government has led to chaos. With sources getting dried up, the state government is looking at all the possible opportunities to make more money i.e, debts. Recently the AP government borrowed Rs 1000 crore from the RBI and the other day tax on liquor was yet again hiked.

Now the YCP sarkar has laid focus on education institutes. In September, the state government asked all the aided colleges to give up the status of ‘aided’ and become private institutions. The SSBN College episode exposed the state government’s ploy and it invited huge uproar.

And freshly the YCP government is allegedly pressuring Dr. NTR Health University for funds. AP CMO directly entered the scene and reportedly asked the university officials to transfer Rs 250 crore towards the development of the state.

As per the records, funds worth Rs 450 crore are with NTR University. However, the university has to pay Rs 170 crore for Telangana government in line with the AP Bifurcation Act. If the university transfers Rs 250 crore to AP government, it would be left with Rs 30 crore which is insufficient to run the university and would disturb the daily operations of the institute.

The university needs approval from the Executive Council for transferring institution funds. The EC would be usually chaired by the Vice Chancellor and having knowledge of the consequences, the VC left on a leave. Despite that, the higher officials from AP CMO have asked the EC to hold the meeting and move a resolution for diverting the funds to the state’s treasury.

With pressuring mounting from AP CMO, the EC is scheduled to meet on Saturday in the afternoon hours. Learning of this move of AP government, the employees of the NTR Health University are apprehensive.
