KCR’s Protest; GoI Reacts And Refutes!

In a bad news for Telangana farmers, the government of India yet again made it clear that it would not buy the Parboiled Rice further as the stock is adequate. In view of CM KCR led TRS government’s protest against the procurement of Paddy for the Rabi seasons, the GoI released a statement and this clarified things once and for all.

“Every state has their own set of demands and depending on it, we would take a decision. For now we are not going to purchase Parboiled rice further. We asked the states to think of alternative crops and Palm oil, lentils should be cultivated extensively,” read the statement of GoI.

The Centre also requested the states to bring down the harvest of Paddy as it can purchase only as per the requirement. “Keeping in view of the future needs and exports, we purchase the crop and we can’t go beyond the requirement,” added GoI.

This statement will certainly irk the TRS government but most importantly it would upset the Telangana farmers. This year’s Rabi season produce has been stunning yet it will leave the farmers in misery.
