High Court Orders To AP Govt On 3 Capitals Bill

Published by

Andhra Pradesh State High Court has directed the state government to file an affidavit on the repeal of the AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020 and revoking of CRDA Act. The court ordered the government to file the affidavit by coming Friday (26th November). This is after state government’s Advocate General informed the HC about the withdrawal of the Bill and revoking CRDA Act.

In a straight question to Advocate General, the High Court asked what are the reasons of the state government for repealing the bill, its intentions and asked it to give this in writing along with a Memo. It asked the AG to submit the complete bill in front of the court and posted the next hearing on this issue to 29th November.

The division Bench (DB) of the High Court headed by Chief Justice (CJ) Prashant Kumar Mishra and comprising Justices M Satyanarayana Murthy and DVSS Somayajulu are hearing the batch of the writ petitions challenging AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill.

The court was informed that the state government had earlier violated the norms and procedure while passing the above bills. The court was told that the state government had not considered Council Chairman’s orders. Council Chairman has referred these bills to a Select Committee. However, the state government hasn’t appointed any committee on the objections of the Council on the bill. Senior advocate Jandhyala Ravi Shankar representing TDP MLC Paruchuri Ashok Babu informed this to the Bench the other day.
