AP BJP chief announces retirement from politics

Andhra Pradesh BJP chief Somu Veerraju made a sensational announcement that he would quit active politics after 2024 and lead a simple life.

“I have been in politics for 42 years now and never anticipated bigger roles and positions. I have no love for the Chief Minister role too,” said Somu Veerraju.

The BJP chief revealed that he was offered Rajahmundry seat and also ministry in 2014. “During our alliance with TDP, I received fancy offers but I declined. I was reluctant and so Akula Satyanarayana was given the chance. I’m a BJP Karyakartha and I’ve worked with commitment all these years,” said Somu Veerraju.

On the 2024 elections, Somu opined that BJP is the only and main opposition in AP. “I will urge people of AP to vote for BJP in the next general elections and make sure the party gets a decent vote share. There is a need for BJP to come to power in AP,” stated Somu.

What made Somu announce his political retirement now? But it looks like a hurried decision and hope he changes his decision anytime in the future.
