Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter account was hacked last night. The hackers posted about Bitcoins from Modi’s account and asked the users to get their bitcoins from the link provided.
Soon, PMO’s official Twitter handle escalated the issue and the social media platform has secured Modi’s account immediately.
“The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured. In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored,” tweeted PMO earlier today.
For a brief period of time, the netizens were shocked to see tweets about Bitcoin from Modi’s handle.
“India has officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender. The government has officially bought 500 BTC and is distributing them to all residents of the country,” read the tweet made by the hackers.
This is not the first time a high profile celebrity’s Twitter account got hacked. Earlier, the cyberpunks hacked many celebrity accounts and made bitcoin tweets from the profiles.
