Modi Stuck For 20 Mins On Flyover After Farmers Block

A “serious security lapse” on Wednesday left Prime Minister Narendra Modi stuck on a flyover in Punjab for more than 20 minutes. This delay left him aborting his plans to visit the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala and attend a programme unveiling development projects worth around Rs 42,750 crore in Ferozepur.

Modi was supposed to go to the National Martyrs Memorial by helicopter. But due to rain, it was decided that he would travel by road, which would take more than 2 hours. With this unprecedented incident, BJP party members reacted aggressively and accused the Congress-led government in Punjab of employing “dirty tricks” that even compromised the Prime Minister’s security. as it feared a “resounding defeat” in the upcoming Assembly polls. They also alleged Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi refused to pick up the phone and attend to the issue.

It was alleged that the Punjab government failed to deploy additional security to secure any movement by road. PM Modi’s cavalcade was stuck on a flyover after the road was blocked by protesting farmers. As PM Modi’s car remained stuck on the flyover, SPG personnel have put their hundred per cent efforts to prevent any untoward incident.

Top government sources said, “What was witnessed on the flyover was a surprising scene of connivance between Punjab police and so-called protestors. Only the Punjab Police knew the precise route of the Prime Minister. Never has such police behaviour been witnessed. This is the single biggest lapse in security of any Indian Prime Minister in recent years.”
