In a sensational verdict by the AP High Court on the ‘Three Capitals,’ the court held that the AP government should act in accordance with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Act and opined that AP Assembly has no power to abolish the CRDA.
Nearly 70 petitions were filed in connection with ‘Three Capitals’ and scrapping of CRDA. The three bench announced its verdict after prolonged hearings. The AP High Court made it clear that it’s the responsibility of the AP government to stand with farmers who have donated the lands for the capital region and its development.
Suggesting the AP government, the court set a deadline of three months to develop the plots and surrender them to the farmers. The court also directed the state government to send the details of development in the form of reports and there should be no changes to be made in the master plan which was sketched earlier.
On mortgaging Amaravati lands, the High Court deferred the state government’s decision. This latest verdict by the AP High Court and its suggestions are a big setback for the YCP government.
Meanwhile the Amaravati farmers are rejoicing the verdict of the High Court and they added that this is their moral victory for their over 800 days of protest.
