Ugadi Politics in Telangana

With Telugu New Year i.e, Ugadi around the corner, the politics in Telangana gained momentum at once. But the sad part is, politics are dominating this Ugadi festival. Instead of celebrating this auspicious occasion with peace and harmony, politics are taking the center stage.

In detail, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan is hosting Ugadi celebrations at Raj Bhavan on Friday evening. For the same event, Governor Tamilisai has extended an invitation to Telangana CM KCR, cabinet ministers, MLAs, MLCs, BJP and Congress leaders, and a few celebrities from respective professions.

Every year Governor hosting Ugadi celebrations is a norm but this time, the event has gained significance in view of growing distance between Tamilisai and CM KCR. It’s been a while that KCR visited Raj Bhavan and he is not in talking terms with Governor Tamilisai. Also KCR deliberately skipped many events of the Governor and the due protocol was not followed.

More shockingly the Telangana budget sessions commenced and concluded without the Governor’s speech. This further widened the gap between the duo. Simultaneously Governor Tamilisai understood the situation and stayed away from state government events.

But in a surprise, Governor Tamilisai set the differences aside and invited CM KCR for Ugadi celebrations at Raj Bhavan. The big question is whether CM KCR will make it to the event or not. This is a hot debate among the Raj Bhavan and Pragathi Bhavan sources.

In fact there is nothing the Governor has done specifically in the case of KCR. Upset and angered with PM Narendra Modi government, KCR is reacting so. When PM Modi visited Hyderabad last month, KCR did not make his personal presence. Post this, KCR kept the Governor at bay because she was a BJP leader earlier.

Knowing about all these happenings, Governor Tamilisai is trying to bury the difference and maintain cordial relations with the state government. How will KCR deal with such actions from the Governor? Even TRS insiders have no clue!
