Kakani Is In Big Trouble!

The spat between TDP leader and former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy took an ugly turn with a bag containing a laptop, iPad and three cell phones, all belonging to the minister and part of the evidence against him in a forgery and defamation case, being stolen from the additional magistrate court in Nellore, ahead of the hearing in the court in a couple of months.

The robbery came to light with the court clerk filing a police complaint on April 13 in which he mentioned that six persons broke the court safe and took away the bag. However, two of the accused have been detained and are being interrogated. The police exuded confidence of detaining the remaining culprits too in a very short time.

Speaking to the media, Somireddy said that it was a shame on the part of the YCP government for not being able to provide security at least to the courts. He demanded that the remaining culprits in the case be arrested and the evidences be recovered.

The case is coming for hearing in June. In January this year, Kakani sought withdrawal of the case but the court rejected it. They would be punished and to avoid that situation, Kakani had planned the robbery of the evidence, the TDP leader said.

Kakani and his team had fabricated stamp papers and passports in the name of Somireddy and his family members. “We collected all the evidences regarding the misdeeds. The cell phones have all the data about how Kakani had forged documents and prepared the fake stamp papers. All these evidences have been stolen,” he said.

Somireddy said even if the evidences would be destroyed, he would approach the court and do the needful. There is no doubt that the theft is the handiwork of the minister himself. The chargesheet has been filed and he will definitely be punished, he added.

In 2016, Somireddy filed a defamation case against Kakani, inducted as a minister in the recent Cabinet reshuffle on April 10. Kakani alleged that Somireddy amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore by illegal means and that he owns assests in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

The minister even displayed the fabricated documents in the public alleging that Somireddy is in possession of numerous assets. When Somireddy challenged Kakani to prove the same in the court, it turned out to be fake and that the documents were forged. Then Somireddy filed a police case.
