Three-Time Attendance Rule May Back Fire!

After having made selfie-attendance compulsory for the doctors five times in a day, the authorities decided to go for three-time attendance for the Secretariat volunteers.

Orders were issued stating that the volunteers have to record their attendance before 10 am for the first time, before 3 pm for the second time and at 5 pm for the third time, in a day. No other department has the three-time attendance rule in the government. It has come into force from April 16 and the volunteers are already fuming at the authorities for making the rule.

Usually, employees sign in the attendance register after entering the office at 10 am and at 5 pm while leaving the office. In between, no employee touches the attendance register and this rule holds good both for those working in the offices and those on the field.

However, many of the volunteers have to be on the field and hence, they sign in the register at 10 pm while leaving to the field work and at 5 pm, before leaving home for the day.

Already, the volunteers are unhappy that their probation services have not been confirmed and they even joined the strike called by the state government employees in connection with the PRC revision. They withdrew the strike only after Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave an assurance that their probation would be declared in June this year.

Now, it has to be seen how the volunteers would react to the three-time attendance rule.

It is learnt that many of the volunteers were skipping attending the mandatory Spandana programme held between 3 pm and 5 pm on the premises of the Secretariats every afternoon, citing field work. The officials said that the three-time attendance rule has been introduced to rein in the volunteers.
