In February second week the YCP government removed IPS officer Gautam Sawang as Director General of Police (DGP). This move by the YCP government was completely unexpected because Gautam Sawang was fully at the service of Jagan sarkar despite criticism from the opposition.
TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh decoded this action of YCP government and backed the IPS officer Sawang for acting against the drugs menace in Andhra. “On February 12th, the police department led by then DGP Sawang burned two tonnes of Marijuana (Ganja) that was seized over the months. 24 hours later Sawang was removed as DGP. Is this coincidence or is there any conspiracy?” questoned Lokesh.
The TDP leader further added that the CM chair of Jagan is never permanent but what remains is the state. “Drug menace is such that it will have a huge impact for two generations. Wherever marijuana is being seized in the country, we hear that it is being produced in Andhra. Instead of Made in Andhra Pradesh TVs, cars and others, Andhra is making it to the headlines with marijuana production,” said Lokesh.
Mentioning Telangana, Lokesh said, “Telangana CM KCR held review meetings on drugs with officials a couple of times but AP CM Jagan never hosted such meetings. J-Drugs and J-Liquor are responsible for an increase in crime against women in AP. We have heard many things about Punjab and now it’s happening in Andhra.”
As said by Lokesh, was Gautam Sawang stripped as DGP for his action on drugs? The YCP government has to answer.
